LEARNING MELODIC VOCAL RHYTHMS STRENGTHENS IMMUNE SYSTEM AND IQ
Mixing Freestyle Rhythm Language with Simple Melody Becomes Super Workout for Both Mind and Body.

More aware than ever of the benefits of a healthy lifestyle, Americans are evolving into an increasingly healthy-conscious society, searching for overall mind and body health.  Siting recent findings from numerous studies and articles about music's effects on brain development and health, like USA TODAY article, The Rhythm of Life-Hoping to Drum Out Disease, where renowned neurologist Barry Bittman studied the effects that practicing rhythm has on boosting immune function, LoribellaMusic.com's President, Loribella, says that there is a super brain and immune system booster that's been around for years that stems from a world rhythm language, sometimes referred to as Vocalese.

Learning this rhythm language from rhythm master George Grant of Pocatello, ID, Loribella says, "Rhythm chanting increases brain function, not only because it engages the whole brain, but because it combines all of the elements of music most proven to increase brain power, like rhythm, melody and singing.  And, now they're finding that practicing rhythm can have significant healing properties too.  Simple vocal rhythm is the easiest of all instruments to learn because your own body becomes your instrument, which is more natural to most people.  Even kids learn it quickly.  Plus, it's fun."

In his article, Drumming: to the Beat of Life, Dr. Bittman said, ". . . subjects who drummed manifested clear-cut boosts of immune function, especially for cells that seek out and destroy tumors and viruses."  Research presented by Drs. Frances Rauscher and Gordon Shaw at the 102nd Annual Convention of the American Psychological Association, shows that learning and listening to music can enhance spatial learning performance.  According to Jan Kerr, President of 4 Today Nutritional Supplements, whose operations are based in Perry, UT, George Grant and Loribella have created a true service to the public by teaching and performing vocal rhythm for people interested in an entertaining way to a healthier body and brain."

George Grant is a long-time teacher and performer of world vocal rhythms and percussion.  His vocal improvisation is the effect of many years of jazz, choir and world music, performing with many American jazz and classical masters, and with virtuosos from Asia and the Middle East.  As a full time Artist In Residence for 13 years, George taught his Drum Talk method in public schools and universities in Utah and Idaho.  George has worked with all ages of public school children, university students and music teachers, including Orff and Suzuki instructors, music therapists, healing arts professionals, and spiritual groups.

Loribella of LoribellaMusic.com is a singer/songwriter and performer from Huntsville, UT., who performs upbeat, introspective songs about self-empowerment, mixing them with World Vocal Rhythms, in an Acoustic World Rock Style.

The two performers are currently touring throughout Intermountain Utah with several other singer/songwriters, such as Ogden performers McCall Erickson and Sunrise on Neptune, in the Synergy Concert Tour which attracts concert-goers of a healthy-conscious, green earth mindset and benefits local businesses who also promote that kind of lifestyle.  The most interesting part of their shows is how they actually play band and audience members as musical instruments, feeding them and each other simple rhythms that are repeated back and interwoven to create a tapestry of rhythmic sound and melody.  Their next concert is scheduled to show on Saturday, May 17th at 7:00 pm at The White House of Ogden Reception Center in South Ogden.  For more information, go to LoribellaMusic.com.
